Types of Allergies

Food Allergies
Food allergies are probably one of the most common and are often the first that many people will think of. Sufferers tend to be allergic to a wide range of foods, and the intolerances themselves can be quite specific. Celiac disease, for example, is an intolerance to gluten. However, this is also another rarer allergy in which a person will be allergic to most processed cereals – meaning that they are unable to eat bread, wheat, oats or anything else that has been processed by modern agricultural farming methods.

Allergies to Grass and Pollen
Grass pollen also tends to be quite a common allergen for a lot of people and the symptoms of this will usually manifest during the summer time. Those with a grass allergy will often try to avoid places where there is a lot of grass, which can sometimes have a serious impact on a person’s quality of life depending on what kind of outdoor activities they do. In cases like this, certain types of medication will be taken.

The most well-known symptom of a grass or pollen allergy tends to be rhinitis when the nose gets inflamed and starts to

Combat Allergy Season Effectively

Firstly, try to avoid things that will likely make it worse, like air-conditioning, dust and animals. All of the above may make the infection to get worse because the immune system has become much weaker.

Secondly, dose up on all of the good stuff, like oranges or vitamin c tablets, anti-oxidant teas such as green tea or lemon in hot water, maybe even try a dose of quercetin or olive leaf extract. These will all help to build the immune system to fight off the infection. If your throat is sore I would eat raw honey as it is ultra soothing. If your ears are sore I would opt for something like Traumeel drops that will not only soothe the aches, but will help with the inflammation. Traumeel drops can be taken orally too!

Thirdly, rest! I know it is really hard to do so when you have a million and one things on your plate, but if you even have 5 – 10 minutes to spare in your day, just lay down and recoup.

Hopefully all of my tips will help you combat the infection and the allergies. But we still need to prevent

Calorie-Free Ways to Relax on Your Own:

1. Breathe deeply. Pause and take a few calming breaths. Inhale from down in your diaphragm instead of up in your chest. Lengthen your exhalations to match your inhalations. Focus on the air as it moves in and out of your nostrils.

Empowering Women With Food

Some of the primary health issues of concern to women are heart disease, cancers (lung and breast cancers are the top 2), diabetes, hypertension, obstructive lung diseases, flu and pneumonia, and kidney disease. Of course, there are others.

Of the diseases above, the ones that may be considered food-related are the metabolic conditions: heart disease, breast cancer, diabetes, and hypertension. All of these have been shown to have their roots in insulin resistance. Helping women reverse these conditions with food and exercise is a specialty of mine, and I have a solid track record of doing so.

(Even colds and flu may be considered food-related to the degree that foods will either support the immune system or derail it.)

Another health concern for pregnant women is – or should be – autism in their babies. The risk of autism is greatly increased if the mom-to-be has one or more of the metabolic conditions listed above, and/or high cholesterol, high triglycerides or polycystic ovary syndrome.

Does Changing Diet Help Reverse Metabolic Conditions?

Most health information states that weight loss will lead to reversal of metabolic conditions. And yes, weight loss can and will absolutely

Eliminating Mattress Fumes

1. Talk with the manufacturer about the chemicals that are in the mattress and could be off gassing. Ask them to hold it in the warehouse for several weeks before delivering it to give the chemicals time to off-gas. And ask them for their recommendations about dealing with the fumes.

2. Take a ride with the mattress. This may seem like an incredibly silly idea, but this can make a huge impact on getting rid of the odors. Put the mattress in an open truck and take a ride with it. Having air blow through the mattress has proven to get rid of the smell quickly and permanently. You can also do this as you take delivery of the mattress.

3. If the mattress is already staring at you in your bedroom, try using a box fan in an open window (weather permitting). Turn the fan so that it pulls air from the inside of the room to the outside. Close the door to the rest of the house. Although this is a temporary solution, it might possibly help keep the air in the rest of the house tolerable.

4. Research the mattresses on the

All about Food Allergies and Food Intolerances

Food Allergies

A food allergy is perceived as a toxin in a person’s body. It triggers an exaggerated immune system response that affects multiple organ systems in an attempt to alert the body of the toxin. This can trigger additional physiological responses that overact and cause serious or fatal symptoms.

Food allergies are serious because some can lead to severe injuries or death. Even microscopic particles of food can cause an allergic reaction, even a fatal one. The most common food allergies include peanuts, shellfish, cow’s milk, soy products, wheat, hen’s eggs, and tree nuts like almonds, Brazilian nuts, hazelnuts, pecans, pistachios, and walnuts. These are called the “big 8” in the culinary world, and are the most familiar food aversions known to the general public.

Food Allergy Symptoms:

  • Hives
  • Red Skin
  • Swelling (face, eyes, cheeks, hands, feet, etc.)
  • Itching
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Anaphylaxis (difficulty breathing, dizziness and loss of consciousness, etc.)
  • Respiratory Symptoms

Food Intolerances

In contrast to food allergies that affect the immune system, food intolerances affect the body’s digestive system. When a person consumes food they are intolerant to, the digestive system has trouble breaking it down. This can be caused by a number of reasons, primarily

Plant Based Meal Plans

First of all why the withdraws? To simply put this, you have lived you’re whole life eating meat. Your body has never experienced not having the animal fat that it had processed all this time. Same with dairy. Imagine this, from a young age you’re eating dairy with your cereal. Your body grew accustom to storing that animal fat to burn at a later time. Being young most have so much energy that you’re body actually burns most of it. What happens when we start getting older. You got it, we store it and don’t get it burnt off.

Your body is like a machine, as it works through time, it develops the markings of time. I hope I made that make sense. It’s like forensics when a gun has been fired off, it leaves the markings of the activity. So if your body has been accustomed to storing this animal product, that is want it knows to do.

When you make the change to a plant-based diet, you’re body say’s “wait a minute, I don’t know how to work this, I have nothing to store”. At first, you will feel great because you’re burning everything

Type ‘A’ Blood Affect Gains

1. BLEND & CONSUME FRESH VEGGIES IN BETWEEN MEALS

Being a hard gainer means placing a high priority on simple and complex carbohydrates (carbs) for the sake of ATP, insulin levels, etc. The majority of the immune system is located in the digestive tract–very little can access the bloodstream without first accessing the intestinal tract. So in order to offset taxing your already sensitive intestinal tract with complex and simple carbs, blend and consume substantial amounts of vegetables in between your biggest meals. Not only will this be beneficial to your blood type once the nutrients from the vegetables enter your bloodstream, but the texture of the vegetables acts as a brush along the lining of your intestinal tract, cleaning as it moves along.

2. ONLY SPIKE INSULIN LEVELS WHEN YOU’RE SURE IT WILL BE UTILIZED QUICKLY

Sugar has an adverse effect on the immune system, but the insulin spike from sugar ensures that the hard gainer’s muscle can grow in the presence of the nutrient it needs (fat). Therefore, it is imperative to know the times of the day your body can handle insulin the best.

Your body can naturally handle insulin once

About Childhood Allergy Insights

Antibiotics and Vitamin D Deficiency Can Lead to Childhood Food Allergies

Thankfully, from time to time, medical research makes some breakthroughs to provide insights into what can be done to reduce the allergy potential. Two such occurrences have recently been reported through the American Academy of Pediatrics. The first established that increased use of antibiotics in the first year of a child’s life leads to higher incidence of food allergies. This is thought to occur because the antibiotics disrupt the bacteria (good as well as the bad) that are growing and forming a functional relationship in the child’s gut. Disturbing the balance allows for food allergies to gain a foothold.

The second insight is that a vitamin D deficiency can also set the stage for food allergies. An extensive study in Australia (a country with high child food allergy rates and extensive vitamin D deficiencies) has demonstrated a strong correlation between vitamin D deficiency and the propensity for food allergies. These study results suggest, then, that vitamin D sufficiency is a real protective factor in preventing food allergies in the first year of a child’s life.

The vitamin D deficiency issue is one more easily

Avoid Food Poisoning

Milk and milk products: Milk bought from your friendly neighbourhood with his unhygienic storage and selling practices, is a very good medium for bacterial growth. Pasteurised milk is free of this risk, but is only available in the bigger cities. So, every milk dish should be served hot or kept in the refrigerator until served. This also applies to cream and cheese.

Curd is generally prepared by mixing a small amount of old curd into fresh, lukewarm milk; this provides an excellent culture medium for bacteria as it supplies nourishment as well as a favourable temperature. And, since the process is repeated daily, the bacteria present in the old sample are carried forward to the next day’s curd and so on. Sometimes curd is made by mixing chopped vegetables into it. If, in this process, the pH (acid: alkali balance) of curd rises above 5, harmful organisms may multiply on storage.

Ice-creams: no doubt, milk used in ice-creams made by a reputed company gets sterilized when it is boiled. But, contamination can occur when it is cooled and flavours and additives added. Bacteria introduced at this stage are not likely to be killed; when the milk
